Cosmic Roots Collective
Wheeler Newman and the Cosmic Roots Collective is an Orlando, FL-based band consisting of Wheeler Newman (guitar, lead vocals), Ronnie Brannan (bass, vocals) and Paul Mauceri (drums, vocals).

The CRC's sound has evolved since the band's inception in 2014. The songs from the first album Poor & Happy feature acoustic guitar and have a country rock/gospel evangelical vibe, like Gram Parsons, Elliott Smith, the Staple Singers, and Uncle Tupelo mixed together. While the "cosmic" is definitely still part of the stew, the recent material has taken on new varieties and dimensions. The electric guitar is more prevalent, the tunes don't conform to classic song structure as much, new sounds are being introduced, such as the Moog synthesizer (which Wheeler built himself while working at the Moog factory when he lived in Asheville, NC), and odd time signatures are starting to pop up more regularly. Psychedelic and progressive rock influences have entered the mix, with hints of Krautrock and electronica as well. The band is in the middle of recording the follow-up to Poor & Happy (title tbd) and have released a single from it, “Big Hand.” In the meantime, they plan to continue hitting the Orlando/Central Florida music scene.
