Americans' frustration and antipathy towards their political and social institutions is at alarming levels. Governments, corporations, political parties, churches, and politicians are by and large viewed with contempt. This frustration is compounded by the belief that it is difficult -- if not impossible -- to achieve meaningful, positive change through political action. Given this level of mistrust, we might ask: is it rational to vote for anyone's interests but your own?

This event is intended to foster discussion and drinking in a fun atmosphere. There will be a brief (15 - 20 minutes) presentation of the issue followed by general discussion and argument. All are strongly encouraged to participate (that’s the whole point!).

This is a broad topic that encompasses numerous kinds of relationships (between concepts, individuals, groups, and societies). Our discussion will focus on how conceiving ourselves through these relationships is a crucial factor for understanding who we are.
